Finding the Right Videographer For Your Wedding

Booking the videographer for your wedding is one of the most important decisions you'll make. A video documentary of the wedding and the events leading up to it are very important glimpses that you will treasure for the rest of your life.

Before you get too stressed, make a list of what you would like to see in your wedding photography. Then make a list of questions to ask when you are shopping for the right company:

1. Why should I hire a professional video company rather than have a relative tape everything?

2. Ask to see a sample reel of a wedding. It's nice to see a sample reel of work and to see an actual wedding reel. Watch it from beginning to end and make notes.

3. Pay attention to the quality of the lighting, the sound, the editing, the music, the special effects. Make sure you understand every aspect of the production so you don't have any surprises afterwards.

4. How many cameras will be used? How will they set up lights and mikes? How far in advance will they set up equipment?

5. Ask how the videographer will approach the actual ceremony and describe how the crew will catch each important moment but will also seem to be transparent.

6. Will the company attend the rehearsal?

7. Does the crew have a still photographer as part of the package?

8. Ask for references and call previous clients for their feedback.

Continue your list of questions. Feel comfortable with your decision. You are showing them a big slice of your life. Good luck and don't stress too much.
