Five Easy Steps to a Successful Relationship With Your Maid Service

Once you get over your feelings of guilt, there are a few simple ways you can ensure that you have a mutually beneficial relationship with your provider.

#1 Fair Pricing/Value for Money

The economics of the house cleaning industry, as with most service industries, are that each dollar spent purchases a block of time and it is important to have realistic expectations about what can be accomplished in that block of time. Consider that your maid service will also have the cost of travel to your home as well as the purchase of cleaning supplies to cover.

2# Clear Clutter

This one is important as it relates to purchasing a block of time. While it is true that you have hired a maid service to tidy and clean your home, if they spend an hour picking up items such as clothes, toys, games there will be less time left over for them to spend really cleaning. This is not to say that your provider will not be willing to pick up the slack occasionally when you have been overwhelmed by your busy schedule. If this happens each time they come to your home you may be dissatisfied with the quality of the cleaning ... or they may request to increase the charge so that they have the time to clean thoroughly. If you can get the stuff up off the floor and table tops you will get more out of your cleaning dollar.

#3 Consistency

Your service provider can be expected to be flexible when it comes to schedule and/or task changes. However, as we explained in a previous post on the pricing of maid service, it is not fair to them if you cancel so often that the frequency of your service no longer qualifies for the discounted price. Life situations can change and keeping regular service appointments may become difficult for a time. Here communication is important again - let them know that you cannot keep your schedule and give them the opportunity to work with you as it relates to fair pricing. More often than not you will find that the service provider will want to keep the relationship with and will keep the pricing at the lower amount as long as they can trust that the change in frequency is not permanent.

#4 Communication

Plan on being home for at least their first visit, so they can ask questions and you can give direction. If you are not home for future visits leave a note if you want them to pay attention to a different cleaning task or do something differently! Communication is an important part of agreeing on realistic expectations. For example, if they are asked to put clean things away (like dishes, if they unpack your dishwasher), you may have to accept that some things may not be in the right place. If something they do, like lining up your pot plants annoys you then let them know. Giving the provider a chance to improve their service to you is one of the greatest contributions you can make towards their success or your own satisfaction. Cancelling your service due to dissatisfaction having never communicated your feelings will not help the service provider get better and will cost you the time of looking for another service provider and going through the initial 'dating' phase all over again.

#5 Routine

Routine and familiarity with your expectations and your home environment are also important factors in receiving the same level of quality during each visit from your service provider. There will definitely be times when you will need to ask that something other than what was agreed upon be done during a visit. This is ok but again, it should be the exception not the rule. Although your provider should be professional and competent, they are still human and are may miss something if their routine becomes a juggling act. You can even have a rotating task schedule as long as it is fairly routine but playing musical chairs with your service provider's tasks is a recipe for disappointment. If you have changed the method of entry into your home from a key under the mat to leaving it with a neighbor, remember to communicate the change to the provider so they do not expend valuable time travelling to your home without being able to clean when they get there and you are not disappointed when you arrive home!

Remember that house cleaning providers are able to and most certainly want to do the best possible job. A happy customer is essential to the success of their business.

Being Sure When Hiring a Maid Service - Questions You Should Ask

Even the cleanliest of people sometimes lack the time to maintain their homes and keep their living spaces to their tidy standards. With how professional working lifestyles are these days, it seems that busy schedules are a thing more common then ever. And because of this, many, if not all working individuals are put in a position where they do in fact want to clean, but simply cannot due to time constraints. So, where these working folk have turned, despite their cleanliness and desire to be tidy, are to cleaning options offered from a little something called a Maid Service. "A maid service," you might be asking with a hushed tone? Yes, that's right. A maid service.

Hiring A Maid Service Is More Common Than Ever

Truth is that with the trend of being too busy to simply clean, maid services have looked upon not only as appealing but as quite a convenience and are now a commonly used service for working individuals, mothers and fathers alike. As such, maid services have been booming with business lately. And many individuals watching this trend swiftly spread like blown dust into the air have been curious as to what king of maid service opportunities are available for them and just what they can provide.

The Hunt For A Maid Service Begins

Now, researching maid service selections is rather easy for those who are curious. If you're up and with the e-times we are currently in the thick of, finding a maid service near you is merely a matter of going on the Internet to search for local options near your region. Or, with a more classic approach, you can open up your yellow pages under the 'maid' or 'maid service' listing.

Realize though that by doing this, you could be walking yourself into a messy situation. For when finding a maid service option, what has worked best for a number of people is to get a referral. It's a wise idea to ask either your family and/or friends (provided they have hired or still do hire a maid service) which options you should look into. You'll get a feel for involved rates, the quality of work done, the type of work conducted and etc.

Pursue Recommendations and Begin The Interview Process

Take those referrals and begin researching, interviewing the particular maid services directly. Have a list containing what chores need to be done in your home and how often you'd prefer them to be carried out before contacting these businesses. Once this is ready, make the call or take the drive to their business establishment.

Now, you'll need to ask a few questions. Inquire how long they have been in service. This will give you a better idea of the business' longevity, if they are in fact reliable and thorough in their cleaning ways. Ask whether or not you will need to provide the cleaning supplies, as many companies bring their own while others will use what you already have stored in your home. And of course, after outlining how much cleaning and what kind of cleaning needs to be done, ask for an upfront estimate for a first total bill amount. This is important to do, as establishing a definitive price will avoid being surprised later on.

That's correct, a maid service - now something that anyone can utilize. Whether you're overly busy, a wee bit pressed for time or are just simply unable to keep a clean home, consider opting for a professional, maid-based cleaning service.

How to Choose the Right Cleaning Service For Your Home

In today's modern world life doesn't leave much time for housecleaning. In most homes both spouses are working, in addition, many people work long hours and have long commute times. This leaves little time for cleaning the house; that is unless you want to spend every weekend doing house cleaning. The majority of families would prefer not to spend all of their off work hours doing domestic chores.

Hiring a cleaning service is the perfect solution, but of course you don't just want to let anyone in your home so you'll want to choose the right cleaning service for your needs, plus one you will be comfortable with.

The following tips will help you choose the right cleaning service for your home.

  • The first thing you will want to do is make a list of all the rooms that you would like cleaned, and what other types of cleaning services you will need. One example would be, do you want help with doing your laundry and cleaning windows? You will also need to list the items you will need cleaned; this may include furniture, making the beds, doing dishes, cleaning ceilings, etc.
  • While taking into consideration the jobs that you want done, you will next have to come up with a price that you will be able to pay for the service. Obviously the more cleaning you need done the more expensive the service will be, but if you have a budget, write this down and keep it on hand for when you start talking to cleaning services.
  • You will next want to make a list of housecleaning services that you will be considering. It is best to start your list by getting some recommendations from friends and family. If you know someone that already employs a housecleaning service, you can find out from them how much the service costs and if they are satisfied with the service. If you can't get any recommendations you can use the phonebook or the Internet to find housecleaning services.
  • One advantage you will have while shopping around for a housecleaning service is that many of them offer free consultations so you can meet with several of them without an obligation. From your list choose at least three or four services to make appointments with.
  • While you are meeting with each cleaning company , you can find out all the specifics, such as what services they offer, how much they charge, as well as how professional them seem. Keep track of all the information you get and once you are done with your meetings you can compare each service to see which one best matches your needs and budget.

With the stress of everyday living, anything that can make life easier is worth it. With the many benefits of hiring a housecleaning service it makes no sense to spend all your free time struggling to keep your house clean. A good housecleaning service will free up your time so you and your family can spend it having fun and being together.
