Perfect Bridal Makeup - Let "You" Shine Through!

Ti's the season for blushing brides. Whether you hire a professional makeup artist or plan to do it yourself, the cardinal rule for applying makeup on your wedding day is simple: be true to your personal style! Whether your everyday look is earthy and natural or glam girl diva, don't stray too far off from the norm. If you do, you may end up looking back at photos from one of the most memorable days of your life wondering, "Who is that girl?" Here are some easy guidelines to follow.

Natural Beauty: Keep it Simple

If you rarely wear makeup then go for a subtle enhancement by playing up your best feature. If your eye and lip palettes are usually neutral color tones, try adding a slightly brighter or more intense shadow or eye liner to your base shade to make your eyes "pop". Or use a different technique than usual. For example, if you normally apply a lighter shade on your lids and a deeper tone in the crease, try the deeper tone on the lid instead with the lighter shade just under the brow bone.

Glamour Girl

If your daily makeup style is full of glitz and glamour, then choose one feature and play it up! If vibrant lip color is your signature, then pair it with a subtle eye. Or play up your eyes-false lashes and all-with a toned down lip. Don't overdo it with blush or foundation either.

Trend Setter

Don't get too caught up in makeup trends. Royal blue or lime green eye shadow might be all the rage for the season, but you don't want that to overwhelm your look for this occasion. Choose colors that are timeless and classic that will compliment an enhance your skintone. Remember, great skin is always in!

Basic Rules For Any Style

1.Always do a "trial run" in advance of the big day. You don't want any surprises.

2.Avoid foundation or powder containing titanium dioxide. This can cause your face to photograph slightly pale or ghost-like.

3.Consider your hairstyle. Up-do's often require more shading and highlighting on the face and more color on the cheeks.

4.Don't forget to groom your eyebrows! Waxing or tweezing should be done and least a week in advance.

5.When in doubt, consult a professional. Most makeup artists will do a bridal preview or makeup lesson to give you some ideas. If you don't think you can duplicate it, you can always hire them for your wedding day!

Bridal Makeup Tips For Flawless Wedding Makeup Application (Part 2 - Eye Makeup)

Your wedding day will be one of the most important days of your life. You have spent many, many months planning every single detail. Often enough, many brides settle on their wedding day makeup, especially if they go the "do-it-yourself" route. They end up looking like they do on any given day or they end up making poor decisions on the choice of their products and the way they applied them.

This article has been written with every bride in mind. By educating yourself on many of the bridal beauty makeup basics, your wedding day look will be one that you'll remember and love forever.

Now, first and foremost, BEFORE applying any eye makeup, make sure you applied powder to set your foundation and/or concealer (see PART 1 ). If you only used a moisturizer, tinted or not, pat with a little powder with a triangular wedged sponge. This way, you can avoid any potential shine in the eye area and prevent from any other eye makeup products from "caking" in the crease of your eye. Also, make sure you allowed your moisturizer to absorb in your skin before powdering.

Some makeup artists will use an eye primer before applying any eye makeup but I have never had any problems with using only powder. It's an extra step I usually don't incorporate in an already busy schedule. If you want however, complete peace of mind, use one. They do work well.

My ultimate bridal eye makeup beauty tip:

Try to stay away from any metallic, frost or creamy eyeshadows. These products are guaranteed to eventually "cake" in the crease of your eye. Instead, choose eye products that are more matte, pearl or of satin finish.

EYELINER & MASCARA:

Applying eyeliner will definitely give you a stunning look. However, eyeliners that are too oily will tend to smear much easier. Throw in a hot summer day and a few tears and the chance of a smudge increases ten fold.

The solution-

Use a waterproof eyeliner pencil or a gel liner. These cake/gel liners have a better staying power.

Also, to be sure your liner stays in place, consider using an eyeliner sealer. Most people have NEVER heard of this but these products DO exist. One of these particular brands is called Napoleon Perdis Cake Eyeliner, among others. The Eyeliner Sealer accompanies the liner to ensure it stays put on your eye. Sound like a sure, safe thing to me!

Once your eyeshadow and eyeliner are in place, be sure to apply a BLACK WATERPROOF MASCARA. Any bride who forgoes using waterproof mascara is asking for trouble. You will almost surely get some kind of a smear. Don't take the chance.

False eyelashes are also a popular option for brides. When choosing false eyelashes, choose a set that will enhance the thickness and length of your own eyelashes without over-doing it. Once applied, they will create a full, natural-looking lash line without being noticeably fake. The best way to do this?

Choose individual lashes that would be applied to outer edges of your eyes. Another option is to purchase a string of eyelashes that can be applied to this same area altogether. This type of application will give you a subtle, sexy, eye-opening look. I always strongly recommend this. Every bride is usually quite hesitant when it comes to false lashes but is able to fully appreciate the beauty in it once applied.

EYEBROWS

To further enhance your eyes on your wedding day, consider filling in your eyebrows with a soft powder to complete your look. A neat and tidy eyebrow will only enhance any eye makeup you choose to use.

Mastering Makeup-beauty

To get a polished look, I suggest you use concealer, foundation, powder, lipstick, and perhaps mascara. For a more striking appearance, you may want to add eyeliner, eye shadow, lip liner, and blush. But the goal is not to look painted it's to enhance your true beauty. How much makeup you use is a matter of personal preference. Here's what you need to know about choosing and using the right cosmetics. The product recommendations in this chapter include my own suggestions and those of women of color makeup artists I've consulted.

Concealer Clues. The purpose of concealer is to conceal or camouflage darker areas of the face (such as the under-eye area) and blemished or blotchy spots. The color of your concealer should be a shade lighter than your foundation-that is, a shade lighter than your natural skin tone. After cleansing, moisturizing (if needed), and applying sunscreen to your face, dot concealer in your trouble spots. Use a light touch too much concealer can give your complexion an uneven, cakey look. You can use a damp makeup sponge or your fingers to blend in. Don't rush the blending process take your time to get the right, even-toned look. Try a MAC concealer or Bobbi Brown or MAC full coverage foundation as concealer.

Foundation Facts. Foundation is used to even out skin tone and give your face a smooth appearance. Choosing the correct color is crucial, so be sure to test a product before you buy it. To do this, have the makeup consultant apply the foundation to your entire face, and take a good look at your skin in natural light. If the foundation blends in and disappears, thus appearing natural, it's the right color. A too light foundation may make your skin look ashen. Take a closer look to make sure the foundation's undertone is not too red, orange, or yellow. If the color does not match, keep trying other shades, either from that line of cosmetics or from an altogether different line, until you find the one that most closely approximates your skin tone.

The next step is to make sure you've chosen a foundation for your skin type.

This is important because the wrong type can make the skin look dull or too shiny or worse, like you're wearing a mask. Foundations come in different forms liquid, cream, cream-to-powder, and stick, matte and moisturizing formulas. If you have acne, you'll need a light oil-free foundation that doesn't clog your pores and trigger a breakout. Avoid oil based products, such as those often found in compacts, and opt for nonacnegenic or noncomedogenic products instead. Whatever your skin type, you may need to switch products when the seasons change or if you move to a dry climate.

For oily skin. Look for oil free or water based foundations, or a foundation and powder in one compact. Matte or semi matte formulas will look best on your skin. If you have very oily skin, don't forget to use a toner before applying any makeup and blot oily areas during the day with tissue. Try Estee Lauder's Double Matte Foundation· for oil control. Avon's Clear Finish Oil Free Foundation, an antiacne treatment that contains salicylic acid, is perfect for acne prone skin as well as oily skin.

For normal combination skin. A water based foundation should suit your needs. If you have T-zone skin and your cheeks become especially dry, experiment with water and oil combination products. Semi-matte formulas will look best.

For dry skin. Opt for moisturizing foundations that contain some amount of oil or a combination of oil and water but only if you are not acne prone. These often come in cream or liquid form. For acne prone skin, oil free foundation is still best. Just apply a moisturizer before applying your foundation.

For sensitive skin. As always, choose hypoallergenic products that are free of potential irritants. A light, water-based foundation should do.

For hyper pigmenting skin. Since this skin type is prone to the development of dark marks, camouflaging the marks with foundation is essential. Consider using a foundation stick, such as Black Opal Stick Foundation, or a foundation in a compact, such as MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation, for more complete coverage.

Bridal Beauty Secrets - Bridal Makeup Tips - Makeup and Hairstyle

Every bride deserves to be the very special lady of the day and look her best. The hairdo, the makeup, the bridal trousseau and how the bride conducts herself is the focus of everybody's attention on this day and you will certainly feel much more comfortable, if you have already done the dress rehearsal first . People say that the bride is the center of a wedding's attention. When someone is watching you, you always want to look your best. With the aid of makeup artists, your bridal makeup can be the perfect one. Forwards are some tips for a durable and good looking makeup. It's reported that nothing compares with a blushing bride.

Where to Begin…

The first thing to get right is your skin and eyebrows…I would recommend a series of facials in the run up to your wedding (that is if you don’t already have regular facials) Start a few months before as it is common for your skin to break out and get worse before it gets better after a facial if you haven’t had one for a long time. (Something to do with getting all the impurities out) Treat yourself to one a month for 3 months before the big day…your last one at least a few days before your wedding, to give your skin time to settle down) Eyebrows should be shaped the day before if possible.

Bridal Makeup Tips

Bridal make up includes dressing up your face, eyes and hair for the special day.

* Before applying foundation, use a gel or a primer. This helps your wedding make up stay for the whole day.

* Use tinted foundation in different colors to reflect the shaded and highlighted areas.

* Trim your brows properly and shape your eyes with eyeliner.

* Go in for false lashes to add the dramatic look to the eyes.

For a resistant blushing, a powder-based blush is recommended.

In the day of the wedding, you should not apply any makeup to your brows. Anyway, it is recommended to apply the eye color and a neutral shadow after putting on shadow primer. This tip can make your bridal makeup look more natural. For brightening a little your eyelids, use an eye shadow base. After that, apply two layers of waterproof mascara, having few seconds pause between, to avoid eventually incidents.

Your lips are also very important. Take into account that you will kiss a lot of people. So you should use a very resistant lipstick. Moreover, it has to fit eye and hair color, same as the lip liner. You should always outline your lips first and then fill them with color. For a longer durability, use balm, lacquer or primer and apply the lipstick with a lip brush. You should apply two layers, for resistance.

To conclude, your beauty routine make a quick check of your face and powder before you leave for the ceremony. If you can have your bridal makeup professionally applied, go for it and save stress. Besides, the difference in front of the camera will be startling, speaking good of you for the years to come.

Make-Up Artist Boo-Boos to Avoid

With make up schools aiming to professionalize the field of makeup artistry, there are things that separate a professional make up artist from just anybody who wants to play with colors and brushes. Sometimes, passion isn't enough and manners do count. The following are acts that are often neglected but committed by make up artists who do not realize the importance of taking care of their clients.

Follow these rules so no one will be left traumatized by your carelessness:

1. Don't break your client's neck. Make sure she's in a comfortable position when you do her makeup. Let her sit with her back leaned against the chair, do not let her hyperextend her neck for several minutes to adjust to your moves, unless she's from an elastic superhero descent. It will strain her muscles leaving her in pain the next day as if she went on a boxing match instead of a pampering makeup session.

2. Do not rest your hand on anyone's face, especially on her delicate eyes. This is bordering on barbaric. Some strokes need careful and precise motion that can fatigue your muscles but it doesn't give you an excuse to transform her face into an armrest. Your hands should be as light as air when working.

3. Do not blow into your client's face. Some cosmetics need to dry before you can proceed to your next step but please, be hygienic enough not to transfer the germs from your mouth even if you don't suffer from halitosis.

4. Say "Please". When you want your client to move in a certain direction, say " look up, please," or "close your eyes, please." Do not move her head with force or instruct her in a dominating fashion even if you become the most famous make up artist in the world.

5. Use sponge or brushes. When doing your own makeup, you could get away with using your hands in applying makeup. There are certain cosmetics that blend more easily with the heat of your hands. Some claim to have better control in blending using bare hands but when working professionally, use a tool. Some people don't fancy the idea of your hands touching their delicate skin.

6. Make sure your sponges or brushes are clean. Use 1 sponge per client. When doing makeup of several faces in one setting, having a different set of brushes for each person may be impractical. Sanitize your brushes with alcohol or wipe them off with wet tissues in between clients.

7. Do not wear a strong perfume. Your work needs getting close to another person and although you want to smell good, don't overdo it. You might trigger some allergic reaction from people around you or cause them migraines. In the same way, please don't smoke before a makeup gig. Tobacco is not a very pleasant smell to stick to one's face. Bring mints or breath fresheners, instead.

8. Do not gossip in front of a client. Talking about another person in a malicious light does not make you look professional at all. If you want respect, earn it. For all you know, the person you're backstabbing may be a relative of hers or in case of celebrities, she may be a closet fan of the one you're dissing.

9. Do not talk about another make up artist's mistakes or ditch a competitor. If you are truly good in your craft, it will show in your works. You don't have to make another artist look bad to make yourself appear better. There is no Hippocratic oath among makeup artists to protect their colleagues but do have the decency not to spread negative talks.

10. Do not pry into your client's personal affairs. As much as you want to build rapport with your client, do not ask rude questions and intrude her private life unless she volunteers information. Be a good listener, interact nicely but do not cross the line.

Bottom line is, have some finesse, be gentle, courteous and hygienic. Observe professional demeanor at all times.

Airbrush Makeup Has Been Around Longer Then You Think

For a spectacular flashback to Biblical times in the movie Noah's Ark in 1929, Max Factor was suddenly called upon to make up over 2,000 extras before the day's shooting began. Although Max had personally trained 40-plus makeup artists to handle studio requirements, few could be called in from their assignments on such a short notice, and the process of doing full body makeup was a lengthy one. With little time to solve the problem, Max and his son Max Jr. hit upon the idea of "mass makeup." By adding a liquid solvent to their regular foundation, they could spray the actors' bodies and faces just as car manufactures painted their products. Spraying provided a quick solution for large groups of extras. Although the stars and featured actors that required close-ups had to be carefully and individually made up, the extras lined up and were sprayed in groups.

Airbrush has become a mainstream for makeup artists, especially for those in television and film. One of the first TV shows to use airbrush makeup on set was "Ally McBeal"in 1998. One of the artists started experimenting with it and once the actors saw how flawless they looked (on and off camera) the entire cast insisted upon it. Therefore, the shows makeup staff was required to quickly learn to airbrush, or be replaced! Word spread through Hollywood fast about how amazing skin looked that was airbrushed. Soon after the Ally McBeal cast became believers, the cast of Friends was introduced to airbrushing. Of course, once they experienced the results, there was no going back. Airbrush makeup has since snowballed into becoming a staple in the entertainment industry. The demands for airbrushing started becoming greater than the number of artists who knew how to apply it, and the makeup artists union found themselves having to offer classes to the "old-school" veteran artists. Today with the majority of productions being filmed in High Definition, airbrush makeup is not just popular but considered the only option.

Of course, the American public wants to have whatever celebrities are using, so there have been many attempts to launch smaller, simplified versions to retail consumers. Several companies have failed in their first attempts to make it mainstream infomercials and malls. The results an airbrushed foundation gives is truly unsurpassed, especially on clients with blemishes, acne scars or wrinkles. Coverage is necessary when trying to camouflage issues such as raised blemishes. When applying foundation with fingers or a sponge, the bumps and blemishes end up getting the most pressure, therefore getting less coverage then the rest of the face. That is why when foundation is blown on via a compressor, the raised blemishes get equal coverage giving the client a flawless appearance with much less foundation.

Many brands of cosmetics claim to have their own airbrushes, however they tend to just purchase them in bulk from a handful of distributors and put their name on it. Airbrush technology has come a long way in the last 10 years. Similar to computers, there is a constant stream of newer, improved models being introduced. They keep getting smaller, lighter and less noisy. There are several companies that claim you can only put their brand of foundation through their airbrush,. In most cases this is untrue and just a way to get you to spend more money. If you invest in a good airbrush and a specific needle (referred to as a beauty needle), you can use many different retail brands of foundation. A popular makeup artists favorite is the Face and Body makeup formula by a Paris-based professional brand called "Make Up For Ever."

True airbrush foundation (formulated to be sprayed on with a compressor) is extremely watery and does not work for old fashion hands-on method. The finish can be dewy, matte or even semi matte. A brand called Aircraft allows for you to actually move the foundation around after application, which is impossible with most airbrush foundations. If you want the best, most up to date airbrush possible, shop where the Hollywood makeup artists get theirs. Coast Airbrush is located in Anaheim California and can be found at http://www.CoastAirbrush.com
