Oven Baked Chicken Breast - Money Saving Tips For a Healthier Meal

Oven baked chicken breast is an easy dish to make. It requires little preparation time, does not need to be watched closely while baking, and tastes great. Boneless skinless chicken breast recipes are very alluring as an entrée for either lunch or dinner and everyone seems to like them.

However, you may want to know how to save money when preparing them.

Meat Preparation To Save Money

The cost of boneless skinless chicken breasts may be prohibitive when compared to other meats. Processing a whole chicken into more usable parts at home will help you save money.

A whole chicken is usually much less expensive than boneless skinless chicken breasts because of less handwork by the butcher. If you perform the same tasks the butcher would to reduce an entire bird into more usable pieces then you are applying your labor instead of paying cash for it at the store.

It is not difficult to make boneless skinless chicken breasts from a whole chicken. You can often find whole chickens on sale so buying a few while on sale and storing the butchered pieces in your freezer will save you money.

A side benefit is that you end up with skin and bones, which can be boiled and converted to make rich chicken broth. Broth can be used for chicken soups of all types or in other recipes for flavoring.

By allowing the fat to float to the top of your finished broth while it is stored overnight in the refrigerator will allow you to easily remove it. A low-fat chicken broth is much healthier and more flavorful.

Chicken broth can be used in many ways when you are formulating your healthy diet plan. To eat healthy you must plan ahead. Otherwise you will eat whatever is available when you get hungry.

Unfortunately, this is usually fast food and fast food is bad for you.

Oven Baked Chicken Breast Recipes

Oven baked chicken breast recipes are easy to make. Whether served for lunch or dinner they will add a reliable source of protein to your meals.

Try this simple yet elegant dish for an easy family-friendly meal.

Marinated Chicken Breasts With Dip

Place boneless skinless chicken breasts in a bowl or plastic bag. Add your favorite Italian or other olive oil based salad dressing. Cover bowl or seal plastic bag. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

When ready to bake place marinated breasts into an oven-safe pan or baking dish. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for approximately 30-45 minutes. The cooking time will differ depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.

They are done when cooked through with no red blood or meat visible when a cut is made in the thickest portion of the breast.

You can serve the chicken with the same dressing you marinated it in or another to use as a dip. Creamy dressing such as Ranch or blue cheese (as well as Roquefort) work great as dips.

Serve with a large salad containing many different colorful vegetables and wild rice cooked in chicken broth from your homemade chicken broth.

Oven-Baked Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Breasts
1 Egg, beaten with a splash of water
3/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large jar marinara sauce
1 cup shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese

Mix Italian breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.

Dip chicken breasts in egg wash (beaten egg and a splash of water) then roll in Italian seasoned breadcrumbs and Parmesan mix. Bake uncovered in a glass baking dish at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the chicken breasts.

Breasts are done when cooked through with no red blood or meat visible when a cut is made in the thickest portion of the meat.

Warm the marinara sauce in a covered sauce pan.

Place cooked chicken breasts on a serving platter, spoon marinara sauce over them, and then sprinkle with low-fat mozzarella cheese.

Serve remaining marinara sauce over whole grain pasta (whole wheat, spelt, brown rice, etc.) and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.

Begin the meal with a large salad. An olive oil based dressing is preferred because of the health benefits this healthy oil offers.

Making oven baked chicken breast recipes is easy.

Eating oven baked chicken breast is even easier.

Eating a healthy diet plan while saving money is possible. Plan ahead and prepare good healthy foods your family and guests will enjoy.

Baked Chicken Drumstick Recipe

Chicken drumsticks are a children's and adults favourite alike being really simple to prepare and cook especially in the oven. But what is the best way to bake chicken drumsticks and what is the best recipe to bring out the full flavour of the leg meat? I think we all know about KFC chicken and the crispy seasoned flour which is deep fried in hot oil giving wonderful results. I also know that many people have tried and failed to understand exactly what is the secret ingredients of KFC chicken but as far as I know this still remains a closely guarded corporate secret and rightly so.

But what other seasonings can we use to flavour our baked chicken legs? one of my favourite (and my kids!) is using crushed cornflakes as the basis of what would normally be breadcrumbs. This gives a much lighter texture to the chicken and remains crunchy and flavoursome after cooking. This is also a great chicken drumstick recipe which you can get the kids involved. But do not be fooled, just because its great for the children doesn't mean us adults will not enjoy it, give it a try and you will see what I am talking about, scrumptious!

Baked Chicken Legs Recipe (coats around 8 chicken legs or quarters)

8 x Chicken legs or quarters with the skin removed (really do ensure you remove the skin, you will get a watery effect under the skin itself if you do not remove it first)
3 x Cups of ground up cornflakes (you can also use Weetabix!)
2 x Teaspoons of Cayenne pepper
2 x Teaspoons of mild Curry powder
1 x Teaspoon of garlic powder
1 x Teaspoon of salt
1/2 Cup of plain flour
1/2 pint of milk
2 x Eggs beaten

Method

1. Pre heat oven to 200 degrees and remove skins from chicken legs
2. Place flour and salt in a clean bowl
3. Place beaten eggs and milk into another bowl
4. Crush cornflakes to breadcrumb size in a clear, clean, plastic bag and add the spices shaking to mix thoroughly
5. Coat chicken in the flour shaking off any excess and dip into the milk/egg mixture and carefully place into the bag. Repeat for four chicken legs and then gently shake to coat evenly.
6. Repeat the above for the remaining 4 chicken drumsticks.
7. Place the coated chicken drumsticks on a baking tray and give a spray of oil.
8. Bake in the oven for around 40-45 minutes until golden and cooked through.

A really tasty and crunchy chicken leg coating which is great fun to make. Enjoy your cooking!

Cooking the Perfect Chicken

One of the main dangers when cooking chicken is the risk of salmonella. The neatest thing about cooking chicken is watching it turn from this pale, fleshy mass into edible-looking pieces of charred poultry meat. Cooking chicken is generally very easy to do and it's easy to get a lean piece of meat without paying an excessive amount.

Chicken is easy to prepare, boneless frozen chicken breasts may be cooked in many ways. While boneless, skinless chicken breasts offer us dinner in the blink of an eye, cooking chicken breast on the bone allows us a little more flexibility. Put the cooked chicken breasts on a platter and keep warm. Dress up baked chicken breasts with a pistachio coating for a special taste treat. Cook over direct heat with lid down, reducing heat to medium this is usually a good method of cooking chicken. When shopping for chicken try to purchase boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs that come pre-trimmed. When rubbing the chicken breasts with lemon juice and sprinkling it with salt and pepper this is a fast way to prepare a meal and it will give the chicken a great taste. Boneless chicken breasts will usually defrost overnight in the refrigerator. Chicken breasts are one of the easiest meats to barbecue. You'll find a delicious selection of chicken breasts and stuffed chicken breasts in the market. Beat chicken breasts flat with a mallet, this make the chicken softer and easier to cook.

Many of the recipes you will find on chicken tell you to use sliced or chopped chicken in salads. Some recipes call for a long cooking time and others use quick-cooking chicken breasts. Stuffing chicken can be done with anything from stuffing the chicken with spinach or medley of vegetables which will add extra flavor to your chicken recipes. Try to find recipes for cooking chicken in a healthy way; what is meant by this is find recipes that don't call for frying or using a lot of oils. Knowledge on cooking for large groups is always helpful, some cooking methods and techniques are advanced but try to master them and the next time you throw a party it will be that much easier. Using pre cut or shredded chicken will help you save time when preparing a meal.

Prepare the grill by heating it appropriately, if using a gas grill just turn it on, if using a non gas grill use single layer of coals. Barbecuing chicken is very healthy way to cook because the fat juices do not get absorbed by the chicken.. So, which chicken should you choose for great barbecue, and how should you prep it. Fresh chicken legs and chicken pieces can be cooked on the barbecue, but should never be cooked from frozen. This is the kind of barbecue food that people love to eat. To have a successful barbecue, you should have the following, prepared chicken, tongs, and seasoning. It's definitely a great way to prepare chicken. Great barbecue chicken is fast and easy to prepare and it is also healthy for you. So just have fun barbequing.

There are so many people barbequing today because everything taste better when cooked on an open flame.

Top 3 Outback Restaurant Chicken Recipe Recommendations

Outback Restaurant chicken recipes are some of the best entrees in the restaurant industry. I know what you are thinking. Isn’t Outback a steak house? Well, it is a steakhouse, but Outback Restaurant Chicken recipes are just as good as their steaks. My wife is not a big steak person, so I can take her with me to Outback to order their chicken recipes. I order a steak, and she orders a chicken recipe. Recently I tried an Outback chicken recipe, and I was amazed at how great it was. Now I am trying all of their chicken recipes.

There are three recipes that I recommend. If you are not going to order steak at Outback, you MUST try the Alice Springs Chicken. This is one of the most popular items on the menu. The Alice Springs chicken is grilled and it includes bacon, sautéed mushrooms, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese smothered with honey mustard sauce. To top it off, you get a heaping serving of Outback mashed potatoes. You can not go wrong with this entrée (unless you are on a diet!) Even if you are planning to order steak, you can order the appetizer version of this dish, the Alice Springs Chicken Quesadilla appetizer.

Outback has other chicken entrees if you want to watch the calories. Try the Chicken on the Barbie. This delicious recipe includes BBQ sauce instead of honey mustard and it includes veggies instead of mashed potatoes. If you love your BBQ sauce with chicken, then I personally recommend this entrée. The grilled chicken will be served nice and juicy.

Lastly, I would like to recommend the classic Chicken Caesar salad. The Outback restaurant Caesar salad is NOT just another salad, and if you order this side item, you will see what I mean!

Outback is one of my favorite restaurants. I would like to be able to eat out more often, but that is hard to do in these tough economic times.
