Six Things to Consider When Choosing an Air Conditioning Company in Auckland

Locating an Auckland-based air conditioning business is not really that difficult but what is difficult is making a decision about how to choose the right business. You should ideally begin by making a list of potential service providers by looking through your Auckland Yellow Pages, scanning local papers like The Aucklander, The Western Leader or the North Shore Times for advertising, talking to people you know about their air-conditioning system servicing and searching on the Internet. You may also want to consider companies in your local suburbs like Epson, Remuera or Devonport.

Once you have a list you need to reduce this to somehow but if you are new to air-conditioning system servicing there are some signs to look out for. For example,

Professionalism

How do they answer your phone call or email request?

Are they professional and courteous in their response?

Do they ask questions about your system?

Are they immediately available?

If so, this may be a sign that they don't have much work so you must ask yourself, why don't they?

Is it because they aren't very good or it may simple be that they have had a cancellation.

Quotation

Get a quotation, not an estimate and get it in writing. A quotation is fixed. An estimate is just that. There may be extra work or parts that you aren't told about and this can add hundreds or even thousands to your final bill. Make sure to ask for a free quote. If the company isn't willing to invest a bit of time to get your business, how committed will they be with after-sales service.

Never accept a quotation made over the phone or on-line. An engineer should inspect your installation before making a commitment to the work to do and the amount it will cost you.

Full service

Don't just take the cheapest offer. There area other aspects to consider too such as after-sales, guarantee, perhaps a free system check after 6 months. Any decision that is based on the price alone will not necessarily give you full satisfaction.

References and recommendations

Search for companies that have good references and talk to your friends, neighbors and family about what companies they have used in the past. You can also ask the company in question for references and call them up to see if they are satisfied. Be sure to find out if the company has experience with your brand and model.

Making the final decision

Make a list of the companies that you have finalized and write their pros and cons on a piece of paper.

Accreditation

A final check is to make sure that the company and its staff are full qualified to carry out the work for you. Here is the NZ accreditation authority.
