Learn Japanese Language Online - How to Make the Most of Podcasts
Unless if you're trying to learn Japanese for business reasons (or otherwise to make your marriage work),it is rather impractical to go to Japan and learn Japanese there.
If you have an MP3 player or an iPod, one of the most fun and effective ways that you can learn Japanese is through podcasts. The popularity of podcasts is built on the belief that you should first learn how to speak Japanese before attempting to write it.
After all, written Japanese has three scripts: the hiragana, katakana, and kanji. It is wrong to believe that you must master both the written and spoken language at the same time. For obvious reasons you are better off learning the spoken language rather than cause yourself a headache by learning hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
If you're up for learning Japanese through podcasts, here are some tips on how to make the most of them.
1. Choose a podcast website with fun dialogues
It has been proven by time and again that people tend to remember events better if an emotion to it. For example, it's easier to remember your wedding day than any other day in your life, right? On a lesser note, you also tend to remember funny lines in the movies.
Not all podcasts are created the same, and some podcast dialogues can bore you to death while others give you a chuckle. Choose wisely, choose podcast sites with funny dialogues. Trust me, you will remember the lessons better.
2. Listen more than once
The key to learning a new language is basically repetition. If it's your first time to learn Japanese, don't be surprised if you don't get the words right the first time. The good thing about Japanese learning podcasts is that you can choose what to listen to, and at the same time, you can replay it again and again.
3. Reinforce your learning by reading the podcast transcript and grammar notes
In a podcast, some words can be really hard to catch, you will need a transcript to know what is being said. Transcripts are also necessary to learn grammar.
